Classic Modern Main Line Interior

Bryn Mawr, PA

Creating a Classic Modern style for this young growing family in Bryn Mawr, PA was a treat for the Henck Design (HD) team. In the heart of Main Line Philadelphia, this million-dollar home stands out from the crowd in its design style. It was important for this home’s interior design that layered items like custom draperies, print wallpapers, modern abstract art, and elements like rugs add movement for the home’s transitional style. We utilized designer patterns on rugs, draperies, and wallpapers like ikat in the dining room, and family room drapes.

Classic blue and white window treatments are the perfect way to highlight the interior design main line pa look. We were able to tie in the local trends HD’s transitional interior design style. Light warm tones create soft elegant seating areas in this Main Line family room. In designing this interior, we needed to infuse it with pretty blue tones while not overwhelming the room. The goal was to deliver neutral wall colors and include soft touches of color in the home accessories. Custom draperies and Roman shades put the finishing touches to elevate the aesthetic of this Main Line interior design project.

The formal living room shows a continued use of patterns and the layering of textures. We used oversized modern art to fill expansive walls and incorporated a driftwood coffee table which contrasts with the surrounding transitional interior design elements. The space planning for this living room is rather conventional, but with updated modern furniture and modern art, the living room really comes to life and feels up-to-date.

The formal dining room for the home has a remarkable chandelier that’s oversized with handmade glass pieces to finish the look. This room was truly all about layering. Hotel-like custom dining chairs flank the expandable dining table and an expansive charcoal gray grass rug underscores the transitional style. Relaxed Roman shades repeat the charcoal gray features throughout the room. The walls were so grand in this room that it was important to incorporate custom millwork, neutral wallpaper, and sophisticated art pieces.

Sophisticated, tasteful, refined. These Bryn Mawr clients’ love for color is apparent in the primary bedroom the most. The canopy bed towers over the Sherwin Williams’ Distance Blue walls. Cool tones contrast with warm-toned relaxed Roman shades alongside the full-size dressers to replace the otherwise typical nightstands.

In updating this traditional Bryn Mawr home’s interior was to create a classic modern design style, we’ve created a family home to entertain in and be supported by for years to come.
