Modern Townhouse Bold Redesign

Washington Square West, Philadelphia

This 3500 square foot contemporary townhouse in Philadelphia was purchased by a young family who needed help with material selections and furnishings. Beyond the most basic level of interior design services, the homeowners wanted Henck Design’s (HD) help with outfitting the entire modern townhouse. Located in Philadelphia’s bustling Washington Square West neighborhood, this home was the perfect backdrop for a truly unique interior, and something we affectionately call a bold redesign .

The architectural features of the modern home have a charming feel. The interior design team at HD strategically used modern and transitional furniture pieces to create more than a contemporary design aesthetic, but also one that appeals to the senses. The natural design incorporates a modern take on unique furnishings with items like one of a kind area rugs and modern art.

The family room has a soaring 25-foot ceiling in front of the beautiful bay window. This stunning view overlooks Lombard Street in this highly sought-after neighborhood.

Below the large traditional crystal chandelier, sits a custom black sofa in a velvet print fabric. HD designed this piece along with a unique organic coffee table in front. Other transitional furnishings include a white channel tufted modern chair atop a light neutral rug. To keep the space from becoming too neutral, HD added color with natural gemstones, fresh flowers and the musical family’s guitar in the family room.

It’s no wonder Henck Design was awarded Best of Style last Year - Aside from the townhouse’s ‘to die for’ kitchen renovation (which is complete with large-scale pendant lighting above the contemporary white island), there is the adjacent modern black and white dining room. The dining room boasts a light fixture that is sure to indulge your design inspo fix and flashy dining chairs with a contrasting metal finish.

This Modern Townhouse has excellent kitchen redesign inspiration. The townhome’s kitchen remodel includes a white quartz solid stone backsplash and a custom hood. There is plenty of storage in and around the kitchen island, along with lots of natural light. This called for custom window treatments for this high quality home!

In the primary bedroom, textural wallpaper and the California king tufted bed with nailheads and a modern crystal chandelier create a luxe, hotel-like feel. The interior design team furnished a second soft seating area in the primary suite complete with a full-size sofa, matching area rug, and custom hotel-style draperies.

The modern townhouse’s interior design has proven to be both elegant and bold off Washington Square.
