The New Modern Classic

Just because an interior design project is rolled out with a modern aesthetic, it does not mean that it can’t be a classic beauty.

This new construction single family home on Broad Street in Philadelphia is perfect for the most fanatical of Philly Sports & Mummer’s parade fans. This young urbanite couple that relocated to the center city home from the Graduate Hospital neighborhood near Rittenhouse, needed a fresh start with a clean and contemporary interior design palette.

In 2022, the HD team delivered a fresh, neutral one-of-a-kind interior design for the 5000 square foot home that needed furniture, rugs, lighting and a new take on modern classic.

One motif that Henck Design is known for is lining walls with large-scale mirrors in order to expand living and dining spaces for an elevated interior design. The design group utilized a variety of textures in the home like rough plaster, smooth large format tile, and light wood tones with heavy graining to add interest and tie spaces together.

The natural stone with a waterfall edge in the kitchen give the main floor extra dimension and highlight this open floor plan’s layout for entertaining.

This home has a California-like feel, not different from the type of modern new construction home you would see in the Pacific Palisades or the hills of Los Angeles. The living room has stunning black marble fireplace with tall windows and custom draperies fabricated for the open, airy second level of the home.

To elevate the dining room, Henck Design incorporated a banquette rather than using traditional dining chairs and an oversized dining table that allows the couple to keep their friends and family around for meals and libations frequently.

The primary bedroom is a completely one-of-a-kind space curated just for the happy couple. With a personalized wall-mounted headboard, this bed is unlike any other. The soaring floor-to-ceiling headboard was created by local furniture fabricators. Along with these sleek features, the HD Team included a matching bench to enhance the contemporary essence of this room.

With charcoal walls and dark wood tones found throughout the nightstands, floor mirror and oversized dresser, the HD Team was able to achieve a suave, masculine style they are well known for.

And wait, there’s still more elegance to experience! The fifth floor roof deck, lined with sizable sliding glass doors, is overlooking the beautiful view of the Philadelphia skyline. Adorned in sunlight as much as it is in simple luxury, the roof deck can be used as the perfect place to escape.
